About

Nothing gets my attention like someone wrestling courageously with a difficult health challenge.

Two sets of expertise are in the room when we work: my client’s wisdom about themselves and my years of teaching people novel ways to support their healing. I love seeing how happy my clients get when they discover their hidden abilities to make themselves whole. Here is how I came to this work:

As a nurse practitioner and social worker, I’ve had decades of collaborating with people from around the globe during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Traditional psychotherapy and medications were not enough.I went to the best teachers I could find and got certified in Qigong, cross-cultural music / sound, and other healing modalities.

Meanwhile I was living my own healing odyssey.

After two car accidents, I was left with a head injury and painful orthopedic issues and then diagnosed with a severe form of multiple sclerosis (MS). The MS progressed to where I had to move out of my house. Walking and taking care of myself became increasingly difficult, and there were no medications available and no treatments that helped. I remember slumping at the bottom of the steps in my house and realizing I was too weak to even crawl up to the main living area. Cognitive impairment and grinding fatigue would keep me from cooking or keeping up with bills. Given the relentless progression of the MS, I feared I would end up in a nursing home. I was scared, angry, and discouraged.

Before I gave up, I wanted to make sure I had tried everything. After much exploration, I came up with an amalgam of ancient and modern approaches that tamed the MS and transformed my life. Today, although I still have some symptoms, I can walk, be active with friends, and work in a job I love. The healing approaches bring richness to my life and a sense of deep connection to people around me and to the larger cosmos.

Meditative bliss or looking for treats?

My work on myself inspired me to offer this hope to others, both through conventional psychiatric services and through an unusual and personalized coaching program for people with MS and similar disorders. I also offer consultation to other healthcare professionals in finding creative solutions for their clients with challenging issues.

I’ve seen a lot of therapists, and you are the best. You listen well and you have a huge bag of tricks for helping people heal.

— Former Client

I have known Kathy Wilmering for over 20 years and found her to be a wealth of knowledge regarding the use of sound as used for healing… She has embodied many techniques and teaches them in a way one can easily understand. She is able to demonstrate many forms of healing clearly as well as support students in learning the skills. I especially like Kathy’s sense of humor and how easily she shares her own journey.
